Clark Johnson Q: When I met you at the Ella Fundraiser this year, only the "Homicide" fans knew who you were.  That's all changed now, right? [Jim King]

A: A bit of a mix.  Old and new.

Q: So tell us how you became a big-time Hollywood director.  Was directing "Homicide" for Tom Fontana the start? [Sandee]

A: No.  Music vids and "Under African Skies" for the Family Channel.

Q: You told Terry Gross that you "just watched" the actors like you do with your kids.  Is there more to being a good director than that? [Jim King]

A: A lot more.  But if you have kids, you know there's more to watching than watching.

Q: Does it help you as an actor or director having done both? [Michelle H]

A: Does what help me what??

Q: What directors influenced or inspired you? [Craig Aston]

A: Many from Oscar Micheaux to Walter Huston to Eisenstein to Lubicht to Friedkin to Wilder to Spike to...
