Exclusive Wendell Pierce Interview Jim King: I'm with Wendell Pierce who plays 'Bunk' Moreland on "The Wire."

Wendell Pierce: Yes.

JK: I can't even count your TV and film credits.  It seems you're on every TV show I watch.

WP: Yeah, it's been twenty two years.

JK: And some stage credits, too.

WP: After last season I did two projects.  One was "Waiting For Godot," produced on a rooftop, in deference to Beckett's estate, so it was metaphoric for what happened to my home city of New Orleans.  Then I went to Pasadena and worked with Lawrence Fishburne and Angela Bassett, and we did "Fences."

JK: Let's talk about "The Wire."  Did you audition?

WP: I was one of the first to audition.  Alexa Fogel, the casting director, was familiar with my work.  They asked me to come back and read with McNulty.  I've only read with one McNulty, and there's only been one McNulty for me, and that's Dominic West.
